How do I connect to the Wi-Fi?

Windows 8/8.1/10 device:

  1. Select eduroam from the available Wi-Fi networks in the bottom right hand corner.
  2. Enter your Student IT account details as StudentNum@umail.ucc.ie and your password.
  3. Choose Connect

All Apple devices:

  1. Select eduroam from the available Wi-Fi networks in the top right corner.
  2. Enter your Student IT account details as StudentNum@umail.ucc.ie and your password.
  3. Choose Connect.

Android:

  1. Go to Wi-Fi settings and select eduroam.
  2. Leave EAP method as PEAP.
  3. Leave Phase 2 authentication to MSCHAPV2.
  4. Set Identity to your StudentNum@umail.ucc.ie.
  5. Leave Anonymous Identity blank.
  6. Set password to your Student IT Account password.

Windows 7:

  1. In the start menu type Manage wireless networks and select.
  2. Choose Add and Manually create a network profile.
  3. Enter the network name as eduroam and choose security type as WPA2-Enterprise.
  4. Click Next and Change connection settings.
  5. Select the security tab and choose the settings button
  6. Untick Validate server certificate.
  7. Under Select Authentication method choose Configure.
  8. Untick Automatically use my Windows... and click OK.
  9. Click OK and OK again.
  10. Click Advanced settings.
  11. Select Specify Authentication mode and select User Authentication
  12. Enter your Student IT account details as StudentNum@umail.ucc.ie and your password when prompted.

Kindle:

  1. Go to the home screen.
  2. Select Menu and Turn on Wireless from the list of options.
  3. Select Menu and Settings.
  4. Select eduroam from the list of Wi-Fi networks.
  5. Enter your Student IT account details as StudentNum@umail.ucc.ie and your password.
  6. Choose Connect.

 

Linux:

  1. Open the network manager.
  2. Click eduroam
  3. Enter the following options

WPA & WPA2 Enterprise

Authentication

PEAP

Anonymous identity

(blank)

Domain

(blank)

CA certificate

(none)

No CA certificate required

(tick box)

PEAP version

Automatic

Inner / Phase 2 authentication

MSCHAPv2

Username

StudentNum@umail.ucc.ie

Password

StudentITPassword
