How do I apply for mitigation?

Mitigation acknowledges certain circumstances that may impact on your performance at the first attempt of an exam or assessment.

There are two types of Mitigation Application Form.

  • Mitigation application form – deferral: Use this if you want to defer all your exams and/or assessments, because of documented circumstances that impact substantially on your ability to prepare for or perform at your best in an exam.

  • Mitigation application form – waiver of capping: Use this if there were documented circumstances that impacted on your performance in an exam or assessment. If successful, your marks in a repeat exam or assessment will not be capped. You cannot apply for waiver of capping in February when you receive provisional results from Semester 1 - you must wait until your results have been approved by an exam board in June/July.
