If I am sick on the day of an exam, what should I do? - Hot Topic

If you are unable to sit a scheduled end of semester exam due to illness or for another reason, you do not need to contact the Student Records and Examinations office on the day. It would be a good idea to contact the lecturer/module coordinator to say you will not be attending the examination.

You will be marked Absent and automatically registered for the supplemental opportunity (if available). For information regarding a supplemental opportunity for the module(s) concerned see the Book of Modules

Please note than under no circumstances will an alternative exam paper/assessment be provided for students who are unable to attend a scheduled end of semester exam. You will have to wait until August 2025 to take the supplemental.

If you have mitigating circumstances preventing you from attending you can apply for Mitigation - Waiver of capping of marks and if successful your marks in the repeat opportunity will be uncapped. Ordinarily, a student registered for a supplemental opportunity is capped.

Further information about applying will be available in January 2025 at Mitigation Waiver of capping
