Voluntary leadership and committee role in clubs and societies are also very valued by employers. UCC Career Services run an internship and extracurricular activities programme called “UCC Works Award” whereby the university will recognise your involvement in internship, volunteering and/or extracurricular activities on your degree transcript.

The more experience you have, including voluntary (unpaid) experience, the better chance you will have of landing a paid position. UCC Career Services run an annual volunteering fair at which you can connect with local and national charities who are actively seeking student volunteers to fill a wide variety of roles. You will also find volunteering opportunities at any time of year on the national Student Volunteer website.
Finally, the work placement team at UCC Careers Services organise the accredited work placements within 30 degree programmes through establishing and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with 100s of employers across a wide range of sectors.
